The Pure Black Panel holds the secrets to the amazingly lifelike images you see on Pioneer plasma displays. Naturally we are continually improving this technology, and the PDP-42MXE20 panel is our most sophisticated yet, able to deliver smooth, highly detailed images across its 42" surface. The most important elements in a PDP are its thousands of cells, where light is generated. The PDP-42MXE20 uses a new cell configuration, called the Redesigned Deep Encased Cell Structure, that maximises cell efficiency to provide evne higher resolution than previous types. The red and blue phosphors used in the cells have also been improved, for more vibrant colour reproduction and brighter, truer images. Other improvements include a new Crystal Emissive Layer that enhances luminosity and a new dielectric layer that increases overall panel efficiency.
